Yes, if you look at the number of people online, you would assume that a certain percentage are finding a partner, like I said, just curious to see how many people out there have actually found a partner.

It makes sense that a lot of good matches would be made on line -- the chances of someone just happening to run into someone that lines up with a lot of their criteria I would think would be pretty low. If I were dating, I'd that's definitely the way I'd go.

try okcupid.com or meetup.com instead okcupid is free, but there are questionnaires to fill out and friendship or romance options to select that make it likelier you will get some of the less-impatient types, and people who are more likely to be somewhat compatible. \or better still, go to meetup.com and plug in your zip code and then some keywords of interest. you'll find more activity groups than you can shake a stick at. it's not for dating so much as for general socializing, but you'll have fun meeting others with the same interests, and any dating you get through such contacts will just be a welcome bonus.

Not a problem but I have tried on line dating and I am not very fond of it. I have a few friends as well that are not having any luck with it as wellg, and the question was possed, does anyone have luck on them? So I thought I would put it out there and see what people have to say. Match seems like a glorified CL. I have not tried any of the others mentioned by previous posts.

I think the people who are having little luck on them would do better if they got some outside feedback on what they say in their ads and spent some money to have a professional photographer shoot some flattering photos for them. There are so many ads out there that it's tough to stand out. A single friend of mine tells me that most of the ads she sees say little more than "I want, I want" with a picture that looks like it was taken with an old cell phone while the person was half drunk. They do work. I met my husband on match.com when it was so new it was still free and there was no way to post a picture. Nobody had digital cameras back then either. If you want some feedback on your ad, post the text here or a link to it and you can get some unbiased reactions and suggestions. Good luck.

Might be a good idea. I just have self taken pictures, although I am not drunk in any of them. LOL I have thought many times about having a company word my postings for me. I should probably just spend the money and do it.

Unless you have some great pictures already I'd spend the money on the photographer first. Because let's face it, unless the photo makes you look reasonably attractive most women aren't going to pay that much attention to what you say. Get feedback about the ad text from a female friend. Or post it here. We'll rewrite it for free. :)

Thanks M'lady The thing is my body is changing pretty quickly from what it was. I was a bit overweight, now I am in shape and fairly muscular, and getting bigger. :) I still have a couple of the fat me pics up I think, so I guess the first thing is to take them down. Perhaps I will post my profile info on here after the holidays and see what you guys come up with. :) I always have a million things running through my mind when I write those things and only so much space to convey everything. Sometimes being smart and wordy are liabilities.

Being smart and wordy can be okay if you want another person who is similar. But it's best to trim some of the extra verbiage before posting the essay, so as not to run the risk of boring people who are tiredly searching through hundreds of ads and don't have the patience to read it all.

Just keep it simple. And anticipate what most women are going to want to know about you. Like where is he in his life? What kind of relationship is he looking for? Is he a decent and responsible person? If you answer those questions and also give women a flavor of who you are and what your interests are you'll probably get a lot of responses. If you don't answer those questions you become a research project and too much work. And yes, take down the fat pics and get some better, more recent ones up in their place.

I have never had luck. I work in IT, and you would think I would do OK online. Never had any luck. I do however have a list of what to look for. :) If the girl only has close up face pics, she is FAT. and probably lists her body type as average, or a few extra lbs. x is NOT a few. I won't contact or reply to anyone with close up face only pics. Any girl who won't talk on the phone or skype within a few emails, is a dude pretending to be a girl. Rather sick really. If your gay then list youself as gay. What.. you think the guy is going to show up for a "date" and say oh, its a guy, well, I'm here, may as well get some? really? my GOD get a life. I read a LOT into emails, etc. Been on a few dates with complete nutburgers with cheese. Maybe I am just too jaded with online dating?

yes, you are way too jaded up-colse face pictures: taken by oneself, with a streched-out arm. Would you rather have photos taken by an ex? Most of good full-body photos of people are taken by their SO-s, current of former. Not talking on the phone or skype: means either lack of privacy, as in: living with roommates, spending a lot of time at work, or just spending a lot of time around other people. It can also mean the person values their time, and if they have half-an-hour to kill, they'd rather meet with you for coffee than chat on skype.

Sounds very familiar I also work full time and just recently started Graduate school, so meeting someone is very difficult and I thought on line might just work.

Met my ex wife online dating It's just another way of meeting people. Yes, she's an ex but she's also a good person and great mother. Family issues, hers, caused a breakup. I'd give it a shot if it were you.

from what I see, ti seems to work often, even for some of the categories you mention: the last two categories for example, would do fine: the wealthy ones should not talk about their wealth until later in the relationship, the single parents can find each-other, the "unusual in their age group" should write that into their profile. I know three married CL couples, and a four dating ones.

Just a series of first dates. None I'd want to see twice. One who couldn't stop talking about his ongoing custody battle. One looking for a FB. One who drank way too much. Another who came with empty pockets after enjoying a nice dinner and expensive drinks, and stiffing me with the tab. Stuff like that. Not my idea of a good time. There were a couple who I had a nice time with, but there was no chemistry. Not enough in common to build anything on. Others may have had better success.

Thank you all For your comments and advice. Dating now and at my age.....climbing ever too quickly it seems ;-) is very difficult and I really was just curious to see what others experiences have been with online dating. Happy Holidays!
