Religion in LTR So, been married for 3 yrs, together for 5. When I first met my wife, neither of us were very religious at all; we talked about our religious views from growing up-but neither of us were involved. So probably in the past month or so my MIL and her husband started going back to church; so my wife has gone a couple of times, and is started to get back into it. I don't have a big problem with church in general--I'm not here to argue over it--this is my problem. They are Pentecostal--so before slamming me if you are one (which if you are why are you on the computer cause it's "the devil") I don't agree with her denomination, so I don't want to go with her, I wouldn't mind going to church, it doesn't bother me, I just don't want to go to hers. What would be a nice way to say this? And are there others who are together who worship separate doctrines? Thanks!

Simply ask her if she has considered any other religion. She stopped going for a reason right? Ask if she wouldn't mind trying out other churches/religions tha tyou two can share.

If you are interested in getting some religion Then perhaps go out, find a church you like, and invite your wife to your church. Have you gone to her church? Or do you only judge based on what you hear from others? Pentecostal churches are not all the same. I have an intellectual interest in religions; I have studied a LOT of them, including mythologies, etc. Some Pentecostal churches are the full on Holy Roller type, jumping around, dancing in the isles, etc. Others are not that way at all. If you have no interest in going at all, then tell her you have no interest in church. She changed, you didn't.

I'd say don't talk doctrine. You said "worship separate doctrines" but I'm going to assume you didn't mean it like that and just meant worship God in different ways with different beliefs? Presumably you're still talking about the same God so just emphasize the things you have in common. If you don't like her church but she seems interested in attending services look for one you align with and invite her to come with you at least part of the time. But be prepared to compromise and attend hers at least a few times. After doing that maybe you can settle on one and if not like I said stick in your relationship to the beliefs you both hold. Just my two cents but hope it's helpful.
