Help, WHAT?? New to divorce, Dont know where to start, In a nutshell, i make a good income, been married greater than 10 years and have 2 , wife never worked, no college and has been housewife. She has run me in horrific debt and done some financial fraud against me. I found out - she has done this to me in the past too, but we patched things up and I thought things were better. Anyway, i can not do it again, I told her i was going to talk to lawyer, but i could not even pau a retainer due to the money issues she created, she got a lawyer and filed for divorce from me, no fault divorce. The question I have IF it is a NO FAULT divorce and she has done horrific things and left me for broke and even done some illegal things does it really matter, and does it matter that she makes no money and i make a lot but 90% income pays debt SHE created if it is a NO FAULT divorce, I mean i will have to pay child support that is a given, but how about other support, do they look at my large income and her no income and give her the 1000 dollars i have left after paying all the bills and debt SHE ran up and that is not including additional living expenses I have to come up with to move out and rent an apartment and figure how to make ends meet, shit, i can not even afford child support at this time, I did not file for divorce b/c i could not even come up w/ retainer, How does it work with NO FAULT divorce is SHE has alot of fault, from what i read, fault does not matter in the least, the assests are just split, regardless of the shit she has caused me and debt i am now left with ----HELP

Calm down... Your wife will have to get a job of some kind. The debt will be split, but probably not 50-50. Maybe once the divorce is done you will need to file bankruptcy. What state are you in?? No court is going to bleed you dry of your entire income. They will be reasonable!!

The exact thing happened to me I had a gold digging whore run up my credit cards. The debt split and the money split is not fair. I had over 40k of legal fees. when my $300k house finally sold I get less than $1100. Whats result of your divorce? This is shitty, i want to come back in another life and leech onto a person and suck life out of them. I worked my ass off to get to where I am, 8 years of school and 4 years of training, I made the money and the wife managed the house and house hold bill, she arranged and took care of the finances, she Lied about everything, hell, she did not pay taxes since 2004, I just found that out, i was told stories for years about the taxes and she would come up with horrific lies. She liquidaded an account IN MY NAME and fordged checkes for over 150,000, that took her a little over 6 months, does none of this count, shit, if it does not matter in a NO FAULT divorce and does not come into play, i should do shit too, b/c afterall there is "NO FAULT" right. There has got to be some justice. If i press charges over the money she fordged, I am sure i will be painted as a mean SOB b/c my poor wife has no job and means to support seft, they will just attache her debt to the assests, and then they will be divided, so i guess i will in the end get 1/2 debt anyway, This is BS

If your in Alabama that state is not only a no fault state. Get the best atty you can get for now. Start getting your case together. You need to redirect your anger in a different way. Document everything you can. Make copies of all documents and even hide them if you feel the need.Prove you are not at fault. Your are a man and are guilty until you pay enough money to be considered innocent.

Good luck I hear your frustration...I am a woman who has lost 1/2 of my financial security to an overgrown adolescent in the form of a 60-year old man... It sucks. Just do the best you can now with what you have, and know that you were 1/2 responsible for all that happened...this will help you forgive your childrens' mother, but don't forget... Your lesson: to never again not be fully involved in joint finances, and to get an iron-clad prenup if you ever choose to marry again... Anyway, I know it hurts, but you must move forward now...your need you here and now...and they also need for you to not hate their mother...not wanting to be married to her, yes...hating, no... Went against orders My sitiuation was similar. I was self employed and STBX was not employed and was a stay at home mother and wife. Was married for almost 18 years with 3 children. She filed and trashed the business by ing customers and stating dispariging remarks. My income dropped dramatiy during our divorce. Judge ordered me to pay spousal support from day one along with everything else. I said FUCK no to myself when I left the courthouse. She raided our accounts before filing and I got nothing. 17 months went by I did not pay one dime in spousal support nor allot of other perks. Only CS. I refused to. All she said over the months was how I owe her so much fuckin money. She even filed sanctions against me. But recently Judge saw her tru light and made new orders and abandoned spousal support with no retroactive payments along with allot of other things and CS reduced dramatiy because of debt to income ratio. She had to get a job.I also live in a no fault state. You must use diligence. Provide information and documents that are clear and beyond convincing.So hang in there.

Similar experience I have had a very similar experience, except my STBX husband was the one who forged my signature liquidating a fund that was solely in my name and ran the family business in to bankruptcy after he left our 27 year marriage for his girlfriend. I feel for you. I really do. No one should have to be this responsible for the consequences of another person's choices. As a consequence of the divorce and business failure, I have had to file for personal bankruptcy. The bankruptcy is just one more loss that I am facing because he walked out. Because of his choices, he has lost the respect of our two adult children. That loss is worse than any that I have or will face in the future. I decided to return to college and obtain the degree that I've always wanted. School work keeps my mind off of all the legal crap going on in my life and once I graduate, I'll be totally self-supporting and be able to re establish my credit rating. Hang in there, take it day by day and stay strong.

Permission to Speak Freely? For starters, WOW!! You are telling a great deal of my story only I am the woman. No-fault simply means that no one is at fault for the divorce. This simplifies a great many things for the courts in the great start of Florida, unlike California which has to find fault and work from there unless both parties agree that no one is at fault.
