I just think quality of life goes down On average when there's more people packed into some place. NYC is an extreme example of that. Little things; waiting on line, traffic jams, higher housing prices, packed public transportation, job competition, immigrants underbidding jobs, etc. I don't want America to get to 500M people. It's going to rape the land. I'm sure Europe once had a beautiful landscape. Or China. And now, with all those people, it's been thoroughly abused and raped. America is pristine, in a sense, compared to those places, I'd really hate for it to be spoiled.

The reason why we don't want them Is because they underbid the price of the job. Had there been no immigration the price of that job would have to increase in order to compensate what an average American would want. Sorry, Americans aren't above these jobs. I've worked with Mexicans during college doing construction. I have also worked food service jobs in New England where there aren't a lot of Mexicans. You come down to NYC, Mexicans dominate food service. Why the contrast between these two places? Plus you have to figure the amount of tax money they take out compared to what they put in (illegal immigrants here mostly but I suppose to some extent legal immigrants as well).
