So thank you! Well I just ed the landlady to talk about the cable bill and she, of course, was totally irrational and flew off the handle. She immediately became very defensive. I tried really hard not to let her know that we know what she did (stealing the Visa/debit card out of the mail and taking $3500 out of my boyfriends bank account). I tried to remain calm and not let her know that I was ing about anything other than the cable bill. But she immediately started in with, "We have been very nice to you and we always try to be fair and we haven't raised rent in 3 years (which is a lie, they raised our rent 4% and told us to pay it 3 days later, not giving us 30 days notice and we didn't argue because of the language barrier) and we always nice and blah blah blah." She got very whiney and high pitched and sounded very much like the victim. Then she started saying that she could kick us out if she wanted to. I got pissed off and said, "No. This isn't Russia. You have to have a valid reason to kick someone out!" Yikes. Then she said, "Why are you threatening me???", which I wasn't. So I tried to calm her down and say, "No, I am not threatening you, sorry about that. I will make a copy of the lease agreement and show you were cable is included. Sorry about the confusion." Shit, though, I think I may have let her know that we know, somehow. I am so sick to my stomach right now. I need to change the locks so that she doesn't come in and fuck with us.

We thought the bank would arrest her but then they ed and said, "we refunded the money and if you want to prosecute it's up to you." We just found that out the other day. My boyfriend doesn't want to go ahead until we have our living situation figured out. But now I think we should go ahead today.

Why hasn't she been arrested? Why isn't she sitting in jail right now?

The bank has her photos at the ATM but they decided that we would prosecute and they would refund the money into his account. So he has the money in his account back. But now we have to prosecute. We just found that out. This stuff takes time. Even if they know it was her, they can't just throw her in jail. I don't think they can. And once they do she will be PISSED. She has all of these nephews and brothers and big HUGE hulking Russian men that have come into our yard to cut down the trees and trim the weeds. This is a scary situation. We aren't dealing with law abiding citizens here.

Have you filed a police report? Do so, and find a new place ASAP. In the meantime, find out about the processes for obtaining restraining orders in case you feel it is necessary at some point.

Call them today. The sooner, the better. They're going to want to knwo why this wasn't reported sooner. That's when you tell them the bank just informed you that you have to file, which should be the bank's responsibility.

SOMEONE took it, took the PIN and went all over town getting the max amount of $x a day out. They also went to Vegas. Take it one day at a time. In your shoes, I would get a cash advance from your credit cards and find a new place to live. Even if it's a hold in the wall. Then I would get my friends to help me move. No friends in town? Put moving expenses on the credit card. Then I would immediately press charges for fraud.

You are right. This sucks because I asked my parents if we could come stay with them for a few weeks. Well they said no. My sister already extended her welcome with them and now they are reluctant to let anyone move in. I told them it's an emergency situation. But they are so selfish. Anyway, I told my boyfriend we need to move to a residential hotel or something NOW. We have friends but I can't think of anything worse than crashing on friends couches.
